VoIP Issues: Battery Power

One of consumers' main complaints about VoIP service is that when your electricity is out, your phone is out. Well, according to the article Time Warner seeks to retain phone customers, Time Warner is trying to fix that, or at least give you a couple extra hours of phone power while your electricity is out. Time Warner has been giving out phones with battery back-up for the past year, which gives the phone additional power for about four hours. But this isn't a fix-all. If an amplifier mounted on a telephone pole is knocked out, the phone will not be able to transmit phone calls even if it has a battery back-up.
